Fast switching times and dynamic force behavior

The AC solenoids of the Kendrion System Line are manufactured out of high-quality magnetic sheet metal. This design allows for fast switching times and dynamic force behavior. They also have large strokes included in a compact design that results in a smaller sized solenoid over their DC counterpart that would have the same performance. The strokes of the AC Solenoids can be up to 2 inches (50mm). With the regular operation, an AC solenoid has a higher switching power than a DC solenoid due to the significantly shorter switching times. Unlike a DC solenoid that has constant power consumption throughout the complete stroke travel, the power consumption of an AC solenoid is varied by the stroke. Kendrion AC Solenoids are build to minimize buzzing noises in the close position. Some of the typical applications for the AC solenoids are in energy technology, safety engineering, machine building, and switchgear construction. In these industries, there is a need for fast action and is unlikely to be altered mid-stroke.

Kendrion offers three different types of AC solenoids:

  • The solenoids of the type WL have a U-shaped yoke and a T-shaped armature, creating a high pulling force.
  • The WTI AC magnets have an I-shaped armature, making this type particularly suitable for large strokes.
  • Solenoid systems of the type WLF have the same design as the type series WL, but they are integrated into a closed aluminum housing providing special protection. This housing allows for particularly effective heat dissipation and for use under relatively rough conditions.
